Stenciling no matter what.
In January I traveled to Palm Springs CA to teach a stenciling workshop at The Ace Hotel. I was invited by my friend Heather Ross, who hosts fun and happy sewing workshops there. It is an invite that is very hard to turn down and it is my second time there.
This time around we encountered a new creative element: a hurricane like storm, real big, alot of force and will. At the time I was supposed to teach my workshop, 3 pm on Saturday, everybody was hunkered down in the hotel restaurant for safety and was not really allowed to go anywhere. We had no water and no electricity.
And this is when this rather brilliant medium, stenciling, proved to work out so , so well. Rather than continuing to stare into the wind and shrug our shoulders we simply took our brushes and our Pebeo fabric paints and started stenciling on fabric: right there on the restaurant tables and booths amidst key lime pie and burgers. Sure, it was a little snug and we had no running water, but we made it work..and these ladies created some wonderful and beautiful pieces in those few precious moments before the sun went down.
You simply do not need so many complicated supplies or have that much space in order to get started, stenciling is simply that easy ..and also really fun.

THANK YOU Jenny for taking such wonderful photos!
LOTTA
A Contest!

I am completely new to this..new to the world of fat quarters, but I do think I get it ..it is a bundle of infinite options,
possibilities, magic combinations and future projects waiting to be ... and THAT it is rather exciting!
We just got a batch of Fat quarters delivered to my studio. Each bundle has 20 pieces, one of each design from my
fabric collection, Echo. Each piece measures 18x21 inches. We have received a limited order of these fat quarters from the factory and now you can order your bundle by clicking here.
We ship in Usa for one flat fee of $8 (no matter how many things you buy ) and for international orders we split this bundle up so it ships more flat: that way shipping costs are more cost effective for you.
Now, I would love to learn more about this world of fat quarters..from YOU.
I have seen wonderful proof of your brilliant ideas and your sewing projects online and on my Facebook page. Many beautiful things to treasure and cherish. I am amazed by what you all make out of my fabrics. It makes me very happy to see.

A New Year and a rather awesome start

Hej,
The sun is shining here in Brooklyn today - it feels like such a true reflection of how I feel this afternoon in February sitting in my studio: happy, shining, and filled with energy.
I have had a most wonderful start to the year, working on some exciting new projects and collaborations, meeting some real fun people and having crazy good experiences that helps keep the creativity flowing.
My second fabric collection is taking shape, I am having fun as well as being challenged to make a collection that is in harmony color and design wise. Sort of like solving a puzzle. I am putting together ideas and colors for a collection of porcelain pieces, hopefully due out this fall. I will keep you posted on that one. New stationery designs and products are on the way to all the Target stores in America. Wooah.. this is exciting...images and more information on the way.
I travelled to Palm Springs,CA where I was invited to teach a stencil workshop with the creative Heather Ross. I met some real brilliant people that made me laugh a lot and that is something I truly treasure. We also experienced an unexpected storm that tore through and created a stir, a blackout and an evacuation..and chaos (which I thrive in)!
I have a collection of wall decals out on the market right now. One of them "Strim" is available right now at a most excellent price at Urban Outfitters.

To buy yours click here and to see more of the collection click here.
I had a visit in the studio shop from a journalist and photographer, the very talented Pontus Hook from Sweden. Together we created a feature for "Dagens Industri" which is Sweden's Business Daily. The feature is running this weekend and I am tickled..I hope I make my high school economics teacher proud.
Christies, the very prestigious auction house, asked me to be their arbitrator of style this month, which I gladly and with honor accepted. The result is here.
I also, once again, got the opportunity to work with the creative team at Design Sponge. Photographer Jenny Hallengren, whom I met when I was 10 years old and is one of my very closest friends, took the beautiful photos... I love working with her! The result is here.
And, we added some new items in the shop; new masking tape and some cards and more of that popular yellow fabric called Florine Brass Mesh (very hard to keep in stock). Please find them in our shop. We ship in usa for one flat fee and are happy to help you with your international order.
Well, I think that will do it ..I am off to a delightful weekend with my three boys: my boy, my husband and fat cat Webster.
best wishes
